Aboriginal Education

South Coogee Public School currently has a number of students who identify as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The NSW primary syllabus incorporates Aboriginal Education into many Key Learning Areas and in particular the area of HSIE. At South Coogee Public students over their seven years of schooling, have exposure to a number of units which cover both traditional and contemporary Indigenous perspectives. We also take pride in celebrating both Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC week as a whole school community. At South Coogee Public School we are working towards the improvement of Educational Outcomes for all our Indigenous students. We are also working towards further parent and community involvement in Indigenous Education, and a greater understanding by all students of Indigenous perspectives.
