CREATIVE ARTS

The aim of Creative Arts is to develop in all students a vital interest in learning and appreciating Visual Arts, Music, Drama and Dance. Creative Arts programs are well supported at South Coogee Public School and continue to be recognised as an area of strength.

Teaching and Learning programs have a strong emphasis on Creative Arts and the extra curricular program gives the students the opportunity to participate in a broad range of Performing Arts activities.

Our classroom music programs provide all students with creative musical experiences. These programs celebrate the ways in which students’ cultural backgrounds can be explored through music. The Musica Viva program gave all students K-6 the opportunity to engage with live professional music performances.

2008 saw the school’s  recent focus on quality teaching in Visual Arts come to fruition with the inaugural K-6 Art Exhibition ‘Art Inspires’ being held in November. The exhibition displayed individual art works from every student in the school and included sculpture, paint, drawing and collage. The exhibition was opened by renowned children’s book illustrator Julie Vivas.
