ENGLISH
English is the Key Learning Area in which students develop knowledge, skills and understanding about the English language and literature. The English K-6 syllabus is based on the three main interrelated purposes of language use:
· to interact with others
· to create and interpret texts, and
· to develop understanding about the world and ourselves.
English K-6 outcomes and content are organised in three strands:
· Talking and Listening
· Reading (including viewing)
· Writing (including spelling, handwriting, grammar and punctuation)
At South Coogee Public School children learn to talk, listen, read, view and write, with purpose and confidence.
Features of our literacy learning program include: - a guided reading and home reading program that operates with huge support from our parents and community members. Students are matched to their level of ability and progress at their own rate of learning.
