PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, HEALTH and PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PDHPE)
Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) develops in each child an understanding of themselves, their body, their interpersonal relationships and the values of a healthy and physical lifestyle. Students participate also in regular and varied physical activities as well as activities to develop their self esteem, interpersonal relationships and safe living.
Kindergarten and Year 2 participate in a weekly fitness program. During these programs, children participate and perform in dance, gymnastics, minor games and sports. They also develop proficiency in fundamental movement skills such as running, hopping, skipping, throwing, catching and striking. In Year 2, the children participate in Swim Scheme. This is an elementary learn to swim program that develops water confidence and provides students with basic skills in water safety and survival.
In Years 3 to 6 students participate in fitness lessons with a specialist sport teacher. During Friday sport time these children participate in a range of structured skills activities and games including newcombe ball, OZ tag, dance, and tennis. Children may also participate in PSSA sport and may choose from soccer, rugby, netball, softball and cricket.
