SCIENCE and TECHNOLOGY (S&T)

Science and Technology education allows children to explore the way our world functions and changes. Students learn how to apply scientific processes and take action in solving technological challenges. They learn about both natural and made environments through the learning processes of Investigating, Designing and Making and Using technology.

Built environments, Information and communications, Living things, Physical phenomena, Products and Services and The Earth and its surroundings are the content strands.

Science based activities help students become decision makers, developing abilities in identifying what questions to ask, as well as learning how to find the answers and use the information they discover.

Learning to use information and communication technologies (ICT) is a key element of schooling and is integrated into all Key Learning Areas.

As well as having access to computers in every classroom, students visit the computer lab each week, to develop and practice their skills in finding and organising information, expressing themselves and communicating with others electronically.

Students participate in a variety of ICT activities throughout each year, and all students use a wide range of applications to complete different tasks.

All classrooms are connected to the Internet and students learn how to use resources and participate in online activities in appropriate ways. Each child has an Edu Web page. They are responsible for managing and editing their own page displaying their work from each learning area.
