“Defence Kids Helping Defence Kids” Art Competition

Earlier this year, the Department of Defence wrote to the school inviting Defence children to participate in a national competition with the theme of “Defence Kids Helping Defence Kids”.

The competition was created in recognition of the unique needs of Australian Defence Force families specifically in relation to the issue of their mobility. It is envisaged that the competition will result in the production of a range of engaging, developmentally appropriate resources designed by Defence children for Defence children. These resources will then be distributed to all schools nationally which support dependents of Australian Defence Force members.

Most importantly, the competition gave the kids the chance to win some wonderful prizes, work creatively and have fun.

Many of the Defence children at South Coogee submitted an entry to the competition, and of these, a number have been selected to be forwarded to Canberra for the national judging. Congratulations to all of those children who entered and especially to the following children whose entries are on their way to Canberra: Caitlin B (KM); Jeramie S (S1T); Jayden G (S1L); Corey G (S1S); Gemma T (S1D); Alissa P (S1E); Liam P (S1S); Miranda B (S2D).
