School Song

Here I stand beside my friends, as we share with you our vision

Of a school were knowledge grows like leaves on trees

And I am proud to bear the name, of a school which gives me courage

To reach great heights yet bend and feel the breeze

This is my school, my place of hopes and dreams

My roots are deep, my branches full

I do belong here, this vision includes me

Stand Tall Stand Tall

Stage One 'This is My School' Mural

During Term 4 2006, Stage One students completed a unit of work about their identity and discussed groups in which they belonged. Our school was quickly identified as a group to which we all belonged and it was decided to use the school song as the theme for the mural.

Each student in Stage 1 designed an unique leaf using various techniques for the 'South Coogee Tree' and is represented by a hand print. The handprints also represent out indigenous heritage and reconciliation with the Aboriginal people of Australia. The students' hopes and dreams for the future and other aspects of school life are included in the mural.

Stage 1 students and staff would like to thank Mrs Sandy Fischer (our formal music teacher), whose wonderful words in our school song will always be an inspiration for everything we do during our years at South Coogee.
