Stage 3 Science Fun

Mondays has seen us begin the Stage 3 science unit. All Stage 3 students are rotating around activities for the term that look at a different aspects of Science. This is followed up with an excursion to 'science in the city' a visit from real CSIRO scientist! This week we are having a close look at the work some Stage 3 students have been doing with Ms Molloy and Bubbles!

We have begun with investigations related to bubbles and have written our own hypotheses, identified the relevant variables, worked out how to conduct a fair test, conducted multiple tests, collected data and presented conclusions. This week’s hypotheses were:

· The brand of soap detergent affects the size and durability of bubbles.

· Adding sugar to detergent makes bubbles bigger. We had to be very careful to make sure we kept all of the other variables such as temperature, wind speed and light constant. Amongst it all we have had a fabulous time blowing bubbles and are now designing our own ideal bubble making machines
