Dear Mr Short,
We attended the 2008 Kindergarten Family Tour with our son Thomas on Wednesday at South Coogee School and felt the need to give your school and a couple of specific students some much deserved accolades.
The tour was fabulous and was a great introduction for Thomas and he came away from the tour looking forward to school with great enthusiasm. The information provided was great as was the familiarization with the classrooms and facilities. The teachers we met were fantastic and very welcoming.
However the overwhelming positive that we all took away was the exceptional behaviour, confidence, and passion for their school that the students displayed. From the first introduction at the front of the school where the students were so polite and friendly, through to the students who assisted us with the "registration" process, they all conducted themselves brilliantly. And then we were introduced to our lovely "tour guides", Isabella and Lillian. I don't know these girls' surnames, but I know they are Yr6 students at the school and I'm sure you're aware of who they are! What amazing young ladies! Quite frankly, they blew us away. They were extremely knowledgeable and articulate and quite obviously passionate about the school. They were very nice to Thomas and also managed to be friendly but firm with the two other little girls in our group. The enthusiasm they have for learning and the pride they take in their school and themselves was very obvious. They were certainly impressive. The key message we took away from the tour was that, at South Coogee, its fun to learn and its "cool" to be smart, within the framework of a truly balanced education. This gives me great confidence that Thomas will enjoy his time there.
Please pass on our thanks to all involved, particularly Isabella, Lillian and Mrs Doran, for a great tour. We look forward to further orientation activities later in the year.
